Jeremy Edins Plays During Whirlwind Cowboy Band Tour

2011 Mar 9

The Hardin-Simmons University Concert Band and "The World Famous" Cowboy Band will present a free concert at 8 p.m., Thursday, March 10, 2011, in Behrens Auditorium on the HSU campus.

The Cowboy Band and Concert Band include Jeremy Edins, of Hamilton, TX.

The bands are returning from a whirlwind tour of North Texas cities, which included a stop this past Saturday at the 50th anniversary celebration of Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington.

The Cowboy Band has routinely marched in presidential inaugural parades over its long history, and marches each year in the Children's Parade through downtown Dallas, which is televised in markets across the United States.

Stops on this most recent tour include Weatherford High School, Dublin High School, Cisco High School, Iowa Park High School, First United Methodist Church of Eastland, and First Baptist Church of Eastland.

The bands end their tour with the concert on Thursday at HSU.

The Concert Band will perform works by Jager, Tull, Putz, Newman, Koh, and Marquina.

The Cowboy Band will perform a wide variety of repertoire, including traditional western favorites, school songs, and novelties. The bands are directed by Dr. Wayne Dorothy.

For the 19th year, HSU guarantees students a tuition rate that does not increase as long as they maintain full-time enrollment in consecutive fall and spring semesters.

HSU provides an academically challenging undergraduate education based on a liberal arts foundation. Combining a commitment to academic excellence with a concern for the development of the total person, Hardin-Simmons provides An Education Enlightened by Faith.

With its 14:1 student-to-faculty ratio, students enjoy personal attention as they pursue over 70 fields of undergraduate study, 20 fields of graduate study, and seven pre-professional programs.
