Hannah Page Inducted into Prestigious National Honor Society

2012 May 16

Hannah Page of Irving, Texas, has been inducted into Alpha Chi, a national honor society. Page is majoring in psychology, and is a student at Hardin-Simmons University.

To get into this university group, a student has to rank in the top ten percent of their junior or senior class. Alpha Chi is the national college honor society that admits students from all academic disciplines. Eighteen Hardin-Simmons University students were inducted into the national honor society, May 4, 2012, during a ceremony in the HSU Holland Health Sciences Building.

Dr. Chris McNair, dean of the Holland School of Sciences and Mathematics, told students and parents attending that all of the students had grade point averages of 3.9 and higher and represent the top 3% of HSU students. McNair says inductees have to have 85 semester hours, "A proven track record, so to speak, to become a lifetime member of the organization."

As each student's name is called, they sign a book that contains the names of many other life-time members of Alpha Chi. McNair quiped, "The university has gone through quite a few of these books over the years."

Alpha Chi has about 300 chapters across the United States that induct up to 11,000 members each year.
