Amy Meyer Graduates from Hardin-Simmons University

Amy Meyer of Abilene, Texas, graduated from Hardin-Simmons University during commencement ceremonies held Saturday, May 12, 2012, in HSU's Behrens Auditorium.

Meyer graduated with a Bachelor of Behavioral Science degree in sport, fitness, and leisure studies from the Irvin School of Education during one of two commencement ceremonies.

Giving the charge to the graduates were two HSU alums, who have distinguished themselves in their fields.

Randy Perkins, well known for his work in missions, shared his inspired journey through a heart transplant, "God Has Something Greater for You Than You Dreamed," during the 10 a.m. commencement.

Dr. Robert Barnes, HSU A. B. Shelton Professor of Counseling and Human Development, and department head, is one of the world's premier authorities on the search for the meaning of life. Barnes, president of the International Board of Directors for the Viktor Frankl Institute of Logotherapy, has spoken on the meaning of life to international audiences across the globe for many years.

Barnes, inspired HSU grads with his charge, "Becoming Your Authentic Self," during the 2 p.m. convocation ceremony.

Through seven schools and colleges, HSU offers seven undergraduate degree programs encompassing more than 70 major fields of study. Eighteen graduate programs are offered, including doctoral programs in physical therapy, ministry, functional manual therapy, and education.

Special programs include Honors, International Studies, and Leadership Studies.

Hardin-Simmons University, founded in 1891, is a private Christian institution, affiliated with the Baptist General Convention of Texas (Texas Baptists) since 1941.

Meyer is one of 294 graduates to receive degrees from Hardin-Simmons University this spring.
